Flyers F Briere day-to-day with groin injury

Hockey Betting Lines

03/06/2009 - Philadelphia, PA (Sportsbook Betting Lines) - Philadelphia Flyers forward Danny Briere is considered day-to-day after suffering a groin injury in Thursday's 5-1 loss to the Calgary Flames.

Briere is not likely to play Saturday against Nashville, but the injury is apparently not as serious as was thought Thursday night.

Briere underwent an examination Friday morning, during which he was told adhesions from a previous groin surgery had broken and he had some internal bleeding -- but that those symptoms weren't uncommon.

Briere went through a small workout Friday and said he hoped to get back on the ice Saturday.

Briere's injury came in just his third game back after he missed 36 contests with the lingering effects of a groin strain, which included exploratory surgery back on January 22.

In 12 games this season, Briere has picked up five goals and nine points.
